Highest quality standards

Higher quality standards and focus on improved customer protection lead to a number of requirements in the food and beverage industry.

This includes requirements for products that come into contact with food; this requires specific standards relevant to food manufacturers and their suppliers.

The primary premise of all food contact regulations is that materials or objects that come into contact with food, beverages, or other ingredients should not release materials that are considered harmful to health or detrimental to product quality under normally foreseeable conditions.

While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirms a positive list of materials, the EU additionally specifies methods by which materials or articles that come into contact with food and beverages are evaluated.

Norms and standards

For materials in contact with foods in the food and beverage industry, the EU framework regulation for food is the European Regulation No. (EC) 1935/2004.

All filters, housings, gaskets and support materials offered by Membrane Experts for food and beverage applications comply with the European Community Food Contract EC 1935/2004.
